Job Title: School Chef

Location: HappyLand School

Job Summary:

Happyland school is seeking a qualified and experienced School Chef to prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for our students and staff. The ideal candidate will have a Diploma in Food Production, a passion for healthy cooking, and experience in a school or institutional kitchen. They will be responsible for planning and preparing meals that meet nutritional guidelines, accommodating dietary needs, and maintaining a safe, hygienic, and cost-effective kitchen operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and serve balanced, appealing, and nutritious meals for high school students and staff.
  • Develop creative and seasonal menus that cater to a diverse student population, including vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-friendly options.
  • Ensure all meals comply with health and nutritional standards, including portion control and dietary restrictions.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in compliance with school policies and local health regulations.
  • Oversee inventory management, ordering supplies, and minimizing food waste to stay within budget.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure efficient and high-quality meal preparation.
  • Coordinate with school administrators and nutritionists to align meal plans with school wellness initiatives.
  • Prepare special meals for school events, meetings, and functions as required.
  • Monitor kitchen equipment, ensuring it is well-maintained and operational.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma in Food Production or a related culinary qualification.
  • Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a school, hotel, or institutional kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary requirements, and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage a kitchen team and work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with cost control, portioning, and menu planning.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene Certification is required or must be obtained.

Working Conditions:

Workdays align with the school calendar, with occasional events requiring flexibility.
