Job Description

CARE Kenya seeks to engage an experienced Communications consultant who will strengthen visibility, craft impactful messaging, and support donor engagement through high-quality materials, events, and strategic partnerships. This consultancy will ensure that CARE Kenya’s voice is consistent, professional, and aligned with its programmatic pillars and cross-cutting ambitions, ultimately driving resource mobilization and long-term sustainability.

Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for:

Strategy Development: Draft and implement a comprehensive communications and visibility strategy.
Content Creation: Produce high-quality materials (press releases, newsletters, reports, social media content, website and YouTube content, success stories).
Media Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with media houses, journalists, and influencers.
Digital Presence: Manage and optimize social media platforms and website content.
Capacity Building: Train staff on effective communication, branding, and media engagement.
Event Support: Provide communications support for workshops, conferences, and campaigns.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Track communication outputs and outcomes, providing regular reports.
Deliverables

Communications and visibility strategy document.
Monthly content calendar and social media analytics reports.
Press releases, newsletters, and success stories.
Media coverage reports.
Training sessions and capacity-building materials.
Final reports summarizing achievements, lessons learned, and recommendations (internal and external reports)
Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in communications, preferably in NGOs or development sector.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Experience with digital media management and analytics.
Proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government, donors, and communities.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
